[TriEmbed] Yahoogroups shutdown permanently - lost Triangle Robotics email list

Following up on the discussion last month, I discovered a way I can search
through all email addresses in gmail and extract the email addresses with
different criteria.

I found 65 unique email addresses sent to/from the TAR list in the last 5
years - a smaller number than I had expected, and I am sure some of those
are old and no longer valid. The initial list was about 110 long, but I
removed any that were duplicates (lots of name at domain.com, name at domain..com,
etc), or were to/from other lists (triembed, trilug, etc) or otherwise
looked to be invalid. I kept the full list just in case, but I will be
sending out an email to the filtered list soon.

I used a tool called Gmail Extractor to get the emails. It is a fee service
that is $39 for a year or $19 per month... heh, so I bought a year and
finished what I needed in about an hour. I can do other searches, so if any
wants me to search for other lists, let me know. They have to be emails
that were sent to me that I did not delete, but if I am on other lists,
there is a good chance I have kept those emails as well. I might as well
try to get more use of this tool I paid for.

A little background - this was a TAR (Triangle Amateur Robotics) email
list, not for IEEE R&A. While TAR and IEEE R&A have met together for the
last few years, both TAR and the email list are much older than the ENCS
R&A group. I started the original TAR yahoo groups email address about 18
years ago (within months of yahoogrous starting) and that was after we
moved from an older listserve that was maintained on NCSU equipment. When
TAR and IEEE R&A started meeting together , I kept the TAR email list
active to let the old TAR group know of the meetings. Most of those who
attended the meeting were from TAR and were not IEEE members.

I haven't set up a replacement list yet, but will do that soon, and then
start contacting those on my list to invite them to the new Triangle
Amatuer Robotics list. Once I get the list setup, I will send out an invite
to a TAR meeting and hope to have that set up and running by the April
meeting (always the first Monday of the month), For now, I will just set it
up as TAR unless someone else steps in to run the IEEE R&A side of things.
