[TriEmbed] Hacking home appliances

Hey all,

I'm itching to try hacking some home appliances (e.g., coffee maker or
lamps) using some relays.

Assuming you use a relay with the proper ratings, how risky is this?  I'm
concerned about starting a fire or something.  Also, would this violate
some building code?
