[TriEmbed] old versions of Eagle?

I use kicad exclusively, though I do pcb layout somewhat infrequently. Once you learn its quirks it's not bad. Unfortunately I don't use it often enough to remember all of it's workarounds.

Brian,
You stoke fear of KiCAD in my heart when you describe it as lacking the (paraphrasing here) "streamlined and intuitive interface of Eagle"! But it is time for me to give the new KiCAD release a shot.

The workflow is not nearly as streamlined nor as intuitive as it is in

Eagle (as is the sad fact of many many FOSS projects).  I'm in the midst

of getting my head around it myself so that I can escape the routing

area and layer limitations of the free Eagle version.

That said, aside from the head-scratching moments, I haven't found many

situations where KiCAD has failed to perform.

Good luck!
