Thanks to the links that came from you guys, I think that the site I was
looking for was BatchPCB. From my (clearly) perfect memory, BatchPCB had a
search function, and projects were filed in some kind of system: Power
Supplies, Driver Circuits, Breakout Boards...

oshpark.com looks to have taken BatchPCB over, and apparently did not
migrate the designs (yet?) from BatchPCB. There are as of now, 97 pages or
so of designs, with no search function that I could find. In my slog
through them, it was my impression that 40% or less included parts lists or
instructions. Perhaps 10% had links to project web pages.

Though oshpark.com may very well make marvelous boards, but at least
currently, finding a board that someone else has designed that may do what
you need it to is difficult at best.

As an example, here is a link:
http://oshpark.com/shared_projects/9KhdfD2Yto what is titled a "DIY
Cellphone, LCD" With no BOM, web page link or
supporting information. It may very well work for the author, but I don't
see how to successfully make one even once you get the PCB.

Phooey. All the cool stuff I see disappears before I get a chance to
actually use it.
