It really all comes down to what you need to work and choosing the right kernel for it.</div><div><br></div><div>I agree with you about the BBB, it's a pain to work with all the overlays. The big issue I have with the RPi is the lack of a usable 2nd serial port. You either use the one they have for a project or use it for logging in with, but not both. I find this a big pain in the butt.</div><div><br></div><div>Haven't bought an RPi2 yet, but was thinking of clustering a few together. Now that the Pi2 is out with 4 cores, I'm not as excited about the BBB and its PRUs as I once was. My success/fail rate on the BBB has not been as high as with the Pi. I'm inclined to either brute-force things with the multi-cores or bolt on a standard microcontroller for the realtime stuff.<div><div class="h5"><br><div> </div>

As an aside, I'd heard the BBB was designed to fit in an Altoids tin, so<br>
I decided to find out how much work it is vs. just buying a decent metal<br>
case from someplace like Logic Supply. The answer is, unless you don't<br>
value your time, it's not worth it. Too much drilling, fiddling with<br>
finding the right sort of standoffs to clear the DVI port, and work with<br>
