I have been struggling to run the ESP tools on multiple platforms and to have various versions on the same machine. 

I have outlined my solution on my blog. It requires the machine hosting the esp to have esp_rfc2217_server.py, but it is a relatively small Python script compared to multiple docker images.  

If anyone is brave enough to attempt this and has problems, I might be able to help.
