[TriEmbed] best tool for automagic interaction with USB serial ports

John,

   Please don't lift a finger on my account: you've been a great help
and I've got what I need now. Most especially don't add new sources of
USB pain on my account. :-) Good old UARTs! But if I've created an itch
that you can't resist scratching we'll be eager to take advantage.
