[TriEmbed] prototyping boards with through holes

Hi all,

I'm making some modifications to a circuit board from an old video game
controller.  Originally I was going to scrape the solder mask off certain
spots so I can attach the wires I need.  When I attempted this, I wasn't
able to get a good join (without much force the joint broke off the board).

So, now I'm thinking to get a piece of prototyping board with through
holes.  I need roughly 12cm x 4cm pieces.  I'm thinking to buy a larger
piece and cut multiple 12x4 pieces.

Any suggestions for places to buy these?  Amazon has a lot of options and
Mouser has a lot of options.  I'm not really sure what the differences are.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
