Thought a few on this list would also be interested in tonight's Triangle
Amateur Robotics and IEEE Robotics and Automation meeting on navigation
when GPS data is not available.

The email below contains a small description of the meeting and links to
the vtools site for more information and to register. It also contains a
link to where the ECU students won a 2nd place at the national autonomous
aerial competition the last two years.

As always, registration is NOT required to attend, so if you decide at hte
last minute you want to go, please drop in. However it does help me know
how many will attend to order the pizza and drinks. The presentation
starts at 7pm tonight on Centennial campus (same room where TriEmbed meets
this month) with free pizza and drink and a chance to socialize and chat
with other techies from 6-7pm in the lobby.

I hope to see several from this list there.

Join us tonight for the November meeting of the IEEE Robotics and
Automation (and TAR):

https://meetings.vtools.ieee.org/m/35385
IEEE R&A: Improving the safety of autonomous small unmanned vehiclesTonight's
presentation is by a professor from ECU on work done by his students on
ways to combine sensor data for better positioning and control of
autonomous flying vehicles (ie: quadcopters) when GPS data is not available
(for example, indoors).

The ECU team has come in second place two years in a row at the national
Autonomous Aerial Vehicle Challenge.

This looks to be an interesting talk for anyone interested in quadcopters,
sensors, sensor fusion, or who just want to hang out with a group of local
techies who like to build things.

I hope to see you there.
