 >If you hit only 50% depth of discharge, your battery should last for 1000 cycles or around 3 years. Cut it to only 25% depth of charge an you stretch the battery life to 6 years.  
Solid advice. My extensive experience with field UPS's with zero reasoning behind the chemistry is that a UPS batteries, which generally are floating for their entire life with the exception of an occsional outage and rarely discharge completely, statisistcally have a life between 3-5 years. So it is interesting that the calculations show a possible correlation with extensive field performance data.
