[TriEmbed] Opinion and spare junk

In my electronics journey I finally find myself in the place of needing to
solder header pins onto an LCD board.

 

I intend to buy a good quality soldering iron like a Hakko FX888D - any
opinion or recommendations welcome.

 

Also, and just as importantly, does anyone have a junk PCB or inexpensive
small empty PCB with 0.1" spacing that I could use for practice before I go
at the $20 LCD board?
