[TriEmbed] taking contract prototype manufacturing to the limit

They probably have a decent shot at making this work. This is a hole in the current maker arena. A barrier of sorts. Making boards with surface mount components is not the most friendly and requires special tools and skills to be truly effective. I realize some do it, but this can knock down the walls of those not interested in investing time and money into learning surface mount techniques. There are still some issues to contend with and that is quality of components and assembly. If you receive the device and it does not work, then who is to blame? Designer? Assembler? Components? Unfortunately, this will most likely be the risk of the purchaser. I can tell you that we required significant tools and skilled personnel to resolve those issues in manufacturing.  Still, I think the risk for many circuits will be reasonable to take chances.
